Commemorating Nelson Mandela’s 96th Birthday

Anti-apartheid revolutionary, politician and philanthropist Nelson Mandela, President of South Africa from 1994-99, would have turned 96 on Friday, 18th July.

We all know Nelson Mandela as the first black President of South Africa who spent 27 years in prison for trying to overthrow the pro-apartheid government. The man who became a hero to people all over the world for his long fight against racial prejudice and for his courage and wisdom in bringing people together to live in peace.

But few of us know what kind of person he was with his friends, children and relatives. Honouring him on his 96th birthday, we would like to tell you about Madiba as a simple but a great man.
Mandela was a private person who often concealed his emotions and confided in very few people. Privately, he lived an austere life, refusing to drink alcohol or smoke, and even as President made his own bed, although was also renowned for his mischievous sense of humour.
He was known for being both stubborn and loyal, and at times exhibited a quick temper. He was typically friendly and welcoming, and appeared relaxed in conversation with everyone, including his opponents.
Constantly polite and courteous, he was attentive to all, irrespective of their age or status, and often talked to children or servants. In later life he always looked for the best in people, even defending political opponents to his allies, who sometimes thought him too trusting of others.
He was highly image conscious, and throughout his life always sought out fine quality clothes, with many commentators believing that he carried himself in a regal manner. His official biographer Anthony Sampson commented that he was a "master of imagery and performance", excelling at presenting himself well in press photographs and producing soundbites.
In describing his life, Mandela stated that "I was not a messiah, but an ordinary man who had become a leader because of extraordinary circumstances."  Mandela was married three times, fathered six children, had 17 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

Facebook Tests Buy Button To Let You Purchase Stuff Without Leaving Facebook

Facebook is trying out letting you pay for ecommerce purchases from other businesses without leaving its site or app. For now it won’t be charging the few small and medium-sized businesses in the US to test this new Buy button on their News Feed Pages posts and ads. When I asked if Facebook would be charging businesses for the feature eventually, it said “it was not disqualifying that option” in the future.

Rather than clicking away to a merchant’s site, the Buy button lets you complete the entire purchase flow within Facebook, which could boost conversion rates and endear retailers to the social network. You can use a credit card you have on file with Facebook, enter new payment details and save them for future use, or just checkout and not store your payment info. The feature is privacy safe, and Facebook won’t pass payment details on to other advertisers.

Getting A Cut Of Ecommerce

Facebook made several forays into ecommerce over the years. It tried a Pinterest-style Collections feature with buy buttons that led off-site back in 2012. It enabled on-site payments to charities with its Donate Button, last year. And most recently, it’s been testing an “Auto-Fill With Facebook” feature that automatically enters your payment details when you’re making a purchase in a third-party ecommerce app. Now it’s experimenting with letting you make purchases of physical good from for-profit ecommerce retailers entirely within its walled garden.

A Buy button recently surfaced on Twitter, indicating it too wants to try hosting ecommerce transactions. The method could also be how Pinterest eventually gets deeper into ecommerce.

If the test is succesful and rolls out, Facebook could eventually earn money on the feature by charging a fee or revenue share in exchange for processing payment and improving conversion rates. It could also use the purchases to prove return on investment to advertisers, encouraging them to buy bigger campaigns. Collecting credit card info could also help Facebook with other commerce-related intiatives.

Shaving Down The Purchase Funnel

Whether its websites, apps, social media, or ads, with ecommerce, it all comes down to conversion rate. Can you make someone who might be interested in buying something actually complete the purchase. The problem is this usually involves a narrowing funnel where each step of the process hemorrhages potential customers. Two especially lossy steps are getting the customer to the checkout screen, and having them painstakingly enter their credit card number.

Facebook effectively eliminates both these steps with the Buy button. You don’t have to leave the comforting blue chrome of Facebook and your friends. And even if you’ve never bought something from a merchant before, you don’t have to re-enter your payment details if you’ve already stored them on Facebook. You just click Buy, and click again to confirm, and the item is on its way to your door. It’s like the candy they sell in the grocery line. You’re already at checkout with your credit card out, so it’s easy to make an impule purchase.

By shaving down the time and effort from interest to purchase, Facebook could get more people plopping down cash for ecommerce purchases. That’s something retailers might be very willing to pay for.

LG G3 Beat spotted at the FCC, complete with AT&T LTE

The LG G3 Beat was official announced for release in China and other Asian markets last week, and was packing some rather impressive specs into a slightly smaller 5 inch form factor than the LG G3. Earlier, the same sized LG handset was spotted passing through the FFC, compete with support for AT&T’s LTE bands, 2, 4, 5 and 17.

The previously announced 5 inch LG G3 Beat carries the model number “LG-D729″, whilst this new handset carries the model number “LG-D725”, although it is common for model numbers to change when network hardware changes. According to the FCC file, the LG-D725 features a 127.0 mm display, which works out at exactly 5 inches, the same size at the LG G3 Beat. So it is very likely that these are in fact the same handset.
There have also been rumors going around that a 4.5 inch LG G3 Mini handset is in the works (model number LG-D724), which has also been rumored to arrive through AT&T, but so far such a device has only briefly been mentioned in the form of a demo handset on an Indian import/export website. Perhaps it has been replaced by this 5 inch model?

Although there has been no official word from LG or AT&T regarding the launch of such an LG handset, FFC certification suggests that an announcement should be upon us soon. How to Solve the Issue of Excess Consumption of Data on Android

There are various ways through which you can limit the way your android smartphone excessively consume your data;
1. You can download an app named GREENIFY from playstore. This app can be used to hibernate the other apps on your smartphone or tablet. How to use: open Greenify, add all app and then click on the sign like zzz at the top right side of your screen to hibernate. All hibernated app will not use your data. By hibernating, you deactivate the apps and to activate back any app just open from you app drawer. It is as easy as that.
2. Another method is by deactivating Gmail account/playstore. This will stop all the synchronization that do go on on your device and consume data. The bug in this is just that you will not be able to receive instant mails to your gmail box (third party mail apps should resolve this) and your apps will not be updated automatically by playstore.
3. The third way is by downloading DROIDWALL NO ROOT from playstore for those who do not have root access on their smartphone. Use it to block apps you do not wat to have access to the internet.

Nigerian Singer, Kefee Set to Be Buried on July 11

Nigerian singer, Kefee who died of lungs failure on june 13 after 15 days in coma at Desert Spring Hospital, Las Vegas is set to be buried on friday july 11th in her hometown, Okpara-Inland, Ethiope East LGA of Delta state.
A statement released by her publicist states that Kefee's husband, Teddy Don-Momoh, who has been making arrangements to bring her body back from the US will arrive the country first to receive her body before taking her down to Delta state for burial.
Teddy had earlier indicated that his wife's family had requested that she be buried in their hometown, with a celebratory service in sapele afterwards and he was comfortable with the arrangement.
News of her sickness first broke out on may 29 after the branama crooner and radio personality, kefee reportedly fainted while being on board the plane to Chicago.
Meanwhile the late Kefee's medical bills at the US hospital where she was receiving treatment before her death were allegedly paid by the current Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, according to theNETNG.
A condolence register has been opened for the singer at her restaurant, Branama Kitchen, Mende, Maryland, Lagos.
May her Gentle soul rest in peace. Amen!

Game makers are dusting off the patriotism to deliver Fourth of July- themed content in the hopes of grabbing some of your time during a slow holiday week in the U.S. Today, Rockstar announced its Independence Day Special, the latest update to Grand Theft Auto Online with two new vehicles, the Musket weapon, seven new properties spread across Los Santos and Blaine County, new fireworks and new rides on Pleasure Pier. Stuff like this might seem trivial or not worth the effort. But the name of the game these days is retention, or keeping players engaged with your product. That leads to a longer lifecycle for a game and greater opportunities to share its content with friends. And in the long run, that leads to more spending in a game with microtransactions. So it’s no accident that Activision Publishing is also releasing its Call of Duty: Ghosts Invasion multiplayer map pack on July 3. The new downloadable content (DLC) for Call of Duty: Ghosts isn’t specifically themed for the Fourth, but it is clearly timed to take advantage of the long weekend.
